The Eastern Province Minister, Peter Phiri, has expressed the region’s readiness to host the upcoming 2024 Nc’wala traditional ceremony of the Ngoni people, which is scheduled for this weekend.
Mr. Phiri emphasized the importance of promoting the values of love, peace, and unity among all attendees from different backgrounds during the ceremony.
He made it clear that politics will have no place in the event, ensuring that the focus remains on cultural celebration and harmony.
During his visit to the Nc’wala ceremony arena and the Laweni, Mr. Phiri inspected the preparations to ensure everything is in order for the upcoming festivities.
The Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer, Limpo Liywalii, announced that security measures have been heightened with increased foot and motorized patrols in Chipata to ensure the safety of all participants.
Mr. Liywalii specifically mentioned that motorbike riders are not permitted to be part of Paramount Chief Mpzeni’s procession from Ephendukeni to Laweni on Thursday.
Additionally, the Eastern Chamber of Commerce and Industry Acting Chief Executive Officer, Samson Tembo, encouraged entrepreneurs to seize the opportunity presented by the ceremony to generate income and contribute to the local economy.
