President Hakainde Hichilema emphasized the urgent need for the prompt execution of the Lobito Corridor Project. In his address at the Ciela Resort during the inauguration of the Lobito Corridor Investment Forum, President Hichilema highlighted the significant economic prospects that this corridor holds for Zambia, Angola, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
He stressed that the Lobito Corridor, being a crucial transportation route, offers a strategic advantage for fostering increased trade and connectivity among the participating countries.
During the event, the Head of State emphasized the need for collaboration and innovation in order to expedite the implementation of the Lobito Corridor development. The stakeholders from various sectors including government agencies, private sectors, and international organizations were urged to come together and discuss strategies to accelerate the progress of this project. Amos Hochstein, the Senior Advisor to US President Joe Biden, also expressed the US government’s support for the Lobito Corridor Initiative during the same event. The US government recognizes the significance of this initiative and is committed to advancing its development, further strengthening the partnership between the United States and these African nations.
