In light of the ongoing surge in Cholera cases, Education Minister Douglas Syakalima has made the decision to extend the closure of all schools for a period of three weeks.

This proactive measure aims to prioritize the health and safety of students, teachers, and staff members.

By temporarily suspending in-person learning, the government aims to curb the spread of the disease and protect the well-being of the entire educational community.

This decision underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring a conducive learning environment while effectively addressing public health concerns.

According to Mr. Syakalima, the duration of the school holidays for term one will be limited to just one week.

Mr. Syakalima highlighted during a press briefing that the commencement of the academic year would take place exclusively on Monday, January 29, 2024, emphasizing the specific date for the reopening of schools.

Mr. Syakalima emphasized the importance of thorough cleaning in all institutions during the extended closure period.
